Grant Knipp was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky. He started playing baseball at 4 years old at J-town Youth Baseball. He played multiple positions with the main ones being catcher, pitcher, and shortstop. He attended Louisville Male High from 2016-2020 where he decided to focus on being a catcher. He was named All-District, All-Region, and 1st Team All-State his junior year. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 he was not allowed to play his high school senior season. He was rated the #1 catcher and #2 overall player for the class of 2020 in the state of Kentucky by Prep Baseball Report. He was awarded the Johnny Bench Award as the top catcher in Kentucky for 2020. He signed and attended the University of Alabama where he redshirted for the 2021 season. He transferred and is currently attending Campbell University in Buies Creek, NC where he’ll be a redshirt freshman for the 2022 season.
